Elninodiablo’s first release for 2022, ’Spirit’ picks up where last year’s ‘Dreamweaving’ EP left off - ushering us to a distinctly prismatic, more club-friendly and melodic framework where the vibrancy of his sound palette blossoms to more functional effect.

All the more upfront in its dynamic process at first, ‘Illusion’ is a two-in-one prog weapon aimed at having the dancers wading knee-deep in their own sweat on the face of it - take a muscular bass and sprinkle it with flocks of mischievous darbukkahs, arpeggiated chords and rattling drums - then comes the wildest U- turn you could expect, sure tailored to stir the bottom of your soul and leave your poor heart ransacked... but hey, don’t take anything for granted, back is the bass and lord, does it spank. A lesson in the mastery of sudden programming shifts and shaping of uniquely vivid momentums and narrative arcs, the mirage- like ‘Illusion’ shows off Elninodiablo’s sleight of hand when it comes to creating complex genre-unbound slices of music that bring together the widest array of emotions through single wide-spanning sonic vistas.

Sweeping a broad spectrum of emotions, the eight minute-odd ‘Anastasia’ gets the ball rolling on a typically slo-evolving note, just as rich textures and ambience wise, hatching out around its half into a no- frills dancefloor burner - think Nordic minimalism here - whilst preserving Elninodiablo’s trademark touch of rhythmic playfulness and clinical execution intact. With its chaud-froid of sensually phlegmatic vocal lines featuring once again Doroteja (Dorothea’s Rainbow), FX-laden synth-smithery and bassy impact, this one’s an invitation to hold your breath, close your eyes and dance your life away.
